Molinari Quartet performances of String Quartet No.3

On January 23 the Molinari Quartet gave the world premiere of String Quartet No. 3 in Montreal, at a concert commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Canadian Music Centre. In December they performed the piece in Winnipeg and Montreal.

Preludes New York premiere

On October 23, 2005, three of the composer’s Preludes for piano were given their New York premiere by Peter Vinograde The concert took place at Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church as part of the Saint Andrew Music Society 2005-2006 Concert Series.

World premiere of and the sky caught

On February 28, Montréal-based ensemble Trio ’86 gave the world premiere of and the sky caughtat Providence University College in Winnipeg. The performers were Krista Martynes, Clarinet, Jennifer Thiessen, Viola and Marc Wieser, Piano.

World premiere of Into Its Own Shadow

On June 29, Ensamble 3 gave the world premiere of Into Its Own Shadow, a work commissioned for them by the Centro Mexicano para la Música y las Artes Sonoras. The concert took place in Morelia at the CMMAS concert hall.

World premiere of Altas Piedras

On June 9, bassoonist Wendy Holdaway gave the world premiere of Altas Piedras as part of the CMMAS Bassoon Festival. The concert took place in Morelia at the Centro Mexicano para la Música y las Artes Sonoras.

Foro Internacional performance of String Quartet No. 4

On June 19th the Foro Internacional de Música Nueva Manuel Enríquez presented the Mexican premiere of String Quartet No. 4. The Arcano Quartet performed the work in the Sala Manuel M. Ponce, Palacio de Bellas Artes, Mexico City.

World premiere of winter is when snakes

winter is when snakes, with text by Canadian poet and University of Manitoba Professor Dennis Cooley, was premiered on March 31 at the University of Manitoba as part of an interdisciplinary project by Landscape Architecture Professor Brenda Brown. The performers were: Sarah Kirsch, soprano, Deena Grier, piano, Bronwen Garand-Sheridan, oboe, Edvany Klebia Silva, cello, Luke Nickel, audio technician.

Foro Internacional performance of Six Poems of Novica Tadić

On June 19the Foro Internacional de Música Nueva Manuel Enríquez presented the Mexican premiere of Six Poems of Novica Tadić. Juan Trigos conducted the Orquesta de Cámara de Bellas Artes with soprano María Lusia Tomez as soloist. The performance took place in the Auditorio Silvestre Revueltas, Conservatorio Nacional de Música in Mexico City.

Penderecki Quartet premieres String Quartet No. 4

On June 1 the Penderecki String Quartet gave the world premiere of String Quartet No. 4, a work commissioned by them with financial assistance from the Manitoba Arts Council. The concert took place at Wilfrid Laurier University as part of the 2011 QuartetFest.
