Michael Matthews is a Canadian composer of contemporary classical music based in Victoria, British Columbia. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, he has written works for chamber ensemble, orchestra, choir, and solo performers that have been commissioned, performed, and recorded internationally. His music is recognized for its finely shaped structures, expressive depth, and balance of clarity, atmosphere, and emotional resonance.
